Peerless Percy In 1928, Percy Williams was the fastest man in the world. Born in Vancouver, he was a double gold medalist at the Amsterdam Olympics in the 100 and 200 meters. The victory of this slightly build 20 year old were so unexpected that the medal ceremony has to be delayed while officials searched for the Canadian flag. When he returned to Canada, Percy Williams was a hero and went on to race undefeated for one year in the United States.
